First-hand

Chesterfield, in Jamie’s words.

Chesterfield's close to the office, so I'm in and out of the town regularly. No. 10 Tea Rooms take their payments on Square, and I fitted a garden buildings workshop nearby on Shift4. I've also done pub installs in the town.

I'll come out the same week, and the first visit's free with no call-out fee. I start with your last statement and tell you straight what you're paying, even if the honest answer is that you don't need to switch.

Bigger, busier places usually suit Square; smaller shops and mobile traders usually suit Shift4. Either way, when something goes wrong, you ring me, not a call centre.

Where the trade is

Chesterfield had a population of 76,402 at the 2021 census (103,569 across the borough) and holds a sizeable street market three days a week, one of the largest open-air markets in Britain, with stalls either side of the Market Hall.2 Chesterfield Borough Council runs the general market in the town centre every Monday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm, a flea market every Thursday, an artisan market on the last Sunday of the month and a record fair on the second Sunday.3 Vicar Lane was redeveloped in 2000 as a pedestrianised open-air shopping centre, The Pavements centre opened in 1981, and the Brampton Mile on Chatsworth Road is known for its run of pubs.4 The town's landmark is the Crooked Spire of the Church of St Mary and All Saints, twisted through 45 degrees and leaning about 2.9 metres from true, which brings visitors into the centre year round.5
