The person who answers the phone.
Atlas Payments is run by Jamie Robles. He specs the card machine, builds the till, fits it on your counter, and is the one who picks up when you ring six months later.

Founder, Atlas Payments
Who I am
I’m Jamie. I started Atlas Payments after watching too many independent businesses get sold a card machine by someone they never heard from again. A box arrives, the menu is wrong, the fees are higher than the leaflet said, and the support line is a queue. I thought the job should be done the other way round: understand how the place trades first, spec the kit second, and stay reachable afterwards.
I work from an office in Shirebrook, on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border, and fit in person across the East Midlands: Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. Everywhere else in the UK I set businesses up remotely: a statement check on the phone, the hardware configured and couriered, and the setup done together on a video call.
Most of the businesses I look after are cafés, restaurants, pubs, takeaways, salons and independent shops. Every install on the work page is one I fitted myself, photographed on the day, and published with the owner’s permission.
Independent, so the advice is.
Atlas is an authorised partner for Square and for Shift4. Most new installs go on Square because the hardware, the software and the pricing suit independents best right now. Shift4 remains the right answer for some venues, and some of the businesses on this site run on it. You get the one that fits, specced in writing, and if your current setup is already good you get told that for free.
How I work.
- 1
Ask how you trade
Where the payment happens, how busy it gets, what you sell and what isn’t working now. The answer is often smaller than people expect.
- 2
Price in writing, before anything
Itemised, with the plan you actually need. Nothing is submitted to any provider until you say so.
- 3
Build first, then fit
Your menu or product list is built before the kit arrives. Across the East Midlands I come out, fit it and train whoever is on shift. Elsewhere it ships configured and we set it up on a call.
- 4
One number afterwards
Answered by the person who set it up. Not a ticket queue, not a call centre, and not someone different every time.
What I help with.
- Card machinesCountertop, portable and handheld, chosen around how you take payment, set up and supported.
- EPOS systemsTills, card machines, printers and kitchen screens set up as one system for hospitality and retail.
- Business fundingAdvances against card takings, arranged with lenders. Atlas arranges it; the lender provides the funding.
Support after the install.
One number, answered by the person who set it up. If something needs hands on it in the East Midlands, I come back out.
Counters I’ve stood behind.
Real venues, photographed on the day, published with permission.

Talk to Jamie.
Send a statement, tell me what you sell, or just ring. I’ll tell you what I’d do, and whether it’s worth changing anything at all.
